12 Examples Of Dumb Financial Tweets

This morning I wanted to run an experiment and take to Twitter to see what was happening on this beautiful Sunday morning. If you didn’t know you can search certain terms and see who is tweeting about what. Usually, this is done by picking a certain hashtag but it’s also possible to just type in words like March Madness.

Since I’m a personal finance nerd I decided to search terms like broke, no money, and my bank account. It’s the weekend which means plenty of people went out last night and partied, I even partook in a couple of drinks. Nothing wrong with this as you should do what you want with your money. If (that’s a big IF) you have the money.

The point of this article is to not make fun of anyone, hence why I blacked out their names. In fact, I think some actually are quite humorous. Unfortunately, I know that most of these tweets are actually serious and that’s where it turns from a joke to you might actually have a serious problem.

It may seem funny and cool at the time to flash your negative bank account balance but in reality, you look like a fool. What’s cooler? Having a negative bank account balance that you can get a joke about for a day and get some likes and retweets. Or have stability in your life and not be worried about where the money is going to come from to pay rent. Something to think about.

Okay, let me hop off my soap box and let’s get into these tweets.

Let’s start off with one of my favorites… Just why?

Personal pet peeve here, nothing is funny about this, ever!

Last but not least the one you see all too often…

The Bottom Line

Now, if you didn’t laugh at some of these I would be disappointed in you. On the other hand, if you didn’t shake your head at some as well then I’d be really upset with you.

Most, if not all, of these tweets, go against everything Young, Dumb, and NOT Broke?! is about. You may not believe it but it is possible to travel, go to festivals, go out to eat, and go shopping all without blowing up your bank account.

Ps. If these are your tweets and you want credit for them then let me know and I’ll include your name. Otherwise, don’t ask me to remove them as they are posted on a public forum aka Twitter.
